How to add Spaces to the Dock in OS X

by thedj on June 28, 2013

This is pretty cool, I wanted to add a “space” to the dock in OS X so here’s how you do it.

Open up Terminal.app and enter this. Enter it as many times as you want spaces. Don’t worry about too many, they are easy to remove.

defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps -array-add ‘{“tile-type”=”spacer-tile”;}’

They won’t show up until you force restart the Dock with:

killall Dock

To remove them, just drag them up and out of the Dock like any other icon. To move them around, click and drag.
