BlackBerry Messenger will launch on Android and iOS

by djsharpe on March 3, 2011

You heard that right! Looks like I switched just in time since that was one of the features I enjoyed on the Blackberry. From what I’ve heard, RIM has not yet finalized details surrounding timing or pricing, but we have heard that the company might make the software free to all users.

So in closing we have heard that Android is definitely a go. But again, not sure on timing, though we’re confident that it will launch some time this year. RIM chose Android first because of the fact that it could develop and integrate something like this much easier with an open platform, but the plan is to build and deploy an iOS version at some point as well.

So, my personal congrats to RIM for making what I feel could be a very smart business move and keep them around in the competitive smart phone market.

Thanks to BGR for the info.
