Make Music Together with Blend.io

Blend.io

Since I moved to Atlanta I’ve missed being able to go meet and work on music with so many good friends that I have met or worked with down in South Florida. So recently when going thru my reader I came across the site Blend.io. Blend.io is a site that fills the much needed gap in online music production collaboration. Blend has created an easy to use site that allows for easy downloading, editing, and auto-updating. The interface has waveform displays that are reminiscent of Soundcloud, syncs with Dropbox to create a “pull” feature which auto-updates a draft of a track as soon as someone edits it all while keeping a record of all the changes.

I have been using the site now for a few days and it seems to be an energized community without all the spam of Soundcloud and Youtube. Currently the service only accepts Ableton, Maschine & Pro Tools files but according to the developers the plan to open up to more platforms is coming in the future.

Personally what attracts me the most is the mixture of technology and music, two of my main interests. I have already started uploading and collaborating on projects which is pretty cool plus the site has metrics so you can see if you’re getting plays, followers, pulls, likes, etc.

I’ve always been a fan of open source code and we’ve seen the impact it has had on technology so I’m excited to see the impact it will have on music production.

If you want to check it out you can find me at blend.io/djsharpe. Come find me and let’s work on some music!
